RCC Institute of Information Technology (RCCIIT) was set up in 1999 by the erstwhile Regional Computer Centre (RCC), Calcutta (in JU) as a unique joint venture of NIC, Ministry of Communication & IT, Govt. of India and Dept. of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal.
Currently, the second institute, RCC Institute of Information Technology (Non-AICTE) has been established by the Society on the surplus land in the campus of RCCIIT. This institute presently offers two undergraduate degree programs - Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Computer Science.
Admission in first year B.Tech courses is done through the counselling process conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB). A candidate need to secure a rank in either WBJEE or JEE (Main) to attain counselling conducted by WBJEE Board.
RCCIIT is a private engineering college in Kolkata, offering B.Tech and M.Tech programs with NBA accreditation and high placement records.
The B.Tech (IT) program ( which is now accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi) of the department started under affiliation of Kalyani University in 1999 and then came under affiliation of West Bengal University of Technology in 2003-04.
