Jun 7, 2023 · The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the increase in the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for all mandated Kharif Crops for Marketing Season 2023-24.
The minimum support prices are a guarantee price for their produce from the Government. The major objectives are to support the farmers from distress sales and to procure food grains for public distribution.
The MSP for Paddy has gone from Rs 1360 per quintal in 2014-15 to Rs 1940 per quintal in 2021-22, a 43% increase. The MSP for Wheat has gone from Rs 1450 per quintal in 2014-15 to Rs 2015 per quintal in 2021-22, a 39% increase.
