Official website. https://andaman.nic.in/. The Nicobar Islands / ˈnɪkəbɑːr / are an archipelagic island chain in the eastern Indian Ocean. They are located in Southeast Asia, 150 kilometres (93 mi) northwest of Aceh on Sumatra, and separated from Thailand to the east by the Andaman Sea.
Great Nicobar is located 180 km (110 mi) to the north of the island of Sumatra. The island covers 921 km 2 (356 sq mi) but is sparsely inhabited, with a population of 8067. It is largely covered by rainforest and known for its diverse wildlife .
Diving in Andaman and Nicobar islands is exceptional. The costal belt surrounding these islands is the abode of one of the richest coral reef ecosystems in the world. The distinction is that here the coral reefs and underwater formations are untouched by human activities.
