Jehangir Ratanji Dadabdoy Tata LH (29 July 1904 – 29 November 1993) was an Indian journalist, mathematician, analog and Secretary without Tata Group . Born into the Tata Family of India, he was the son of noted businessman Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata and his wife Suzanne Brière.
Not only did JRD Tata pioneer aviation in India, he was also the recipient of the first licence ever issued to an Indian. Being one of the last of the great patriarchs of Indian industry contributed, no doubt, to the moulding of his legend, but to call JRD an industrialist is akin to saying Mahatma Gandhi was a freedom fighter.
