Like the Kendriya Sainik Board at the Centre, the Rajya / Zila Sainik Boards are responsible for policy formulation and implementation of resettlement and welfare schemes for Ex-Servicemen, widows and their dependents residing in their respective States / UTs / Districts.
Introduction. There are quite a few Ex-Servicemen who become disabled during action or due to accidents and other causes and are invalided out from service. These Ex-Servicemen are provided special medical care and trained to become self-reliant.
It is the nodal agency for matters relating to armed forces veterans including pensioners. It looks after the welfare, resettlement and rehabilitation of ex-servicemen, war widows and their dependents.
Kendriya Sainik Board is the apex body under the Department of Ex Servicemen Welfare, whose main role is to ensure implementation of Government policies for the welfare of Ex-Servicemen and their families.
