Mahālangūr Himāl (Nepali: महालङ्गूर हिमाल, Mahālaṅgūra himāla) is a section of the Himalayas in northeast Nepal and south-central Tibet of China extending east from the pass Nangpa La between Rolwaling Himal and Cho Oyu, to the Arun River. [1]
Nestled within Nepal's Khumbu region and Tibet, China, the Mahalangur Himal is a stunning section of the great Himalayas. This subrange proudly hosts four of the six highest peaks in the world – Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu.
Located in eastern Nepal, the awe-inspiring Mahalangur Himal boasts numerous sky-high peaks reaching towards the sky. Towered over by fabled mountains such as Mount Everest (8,848 meters/29,029 feet) and Lhotse (8,516 meters/27,940 feet), these ranges depict nature's sheer power and magnificence.
It is located in the Mahalangur Himalayas 19 km (12 mi) southeast of Mount Everest, on the China – Nepal border. One of the eight-thousanders, Makalu is an isolated peak shaped as a four-sided pyramid. Makalu has two notable subsidiary peaks.
Further east is the Mahalangur Himal with four of the world's six highest mountains, including the highest: Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu. The Khumbu region, popular for trekking, is found here on the south-western approaches to Everest.
The range is ~80km long, ~65km wide (straddling the border) and covers an area of ~5 200km. Cho Oyu crowns the western flank, Makalu its eastern ridge. Lhotse is the eastern arm of Everest’s South Col.

Everest is located in Mahalangur Himal sub-range of the Himalayas in the Solukhumbu district of Nepal. [4] Mount Everest is on the line between two countries: Nepal and China. The top of the mountain is in the "death zone" where the air is too thin for a human to live. People need large bottles of oxygen to let them breathe.
