The Guaiba Lake (called by the locals "Guaiba River") is in fact a huge estuary bathing several miles of Port Alegre. The sunset over the water is stunning all year round. The recently renovated Guaiba Shore, near the old power plant (the "Gasômetro") is very lively on weekends, and has several attractions.
