Mandore was occupied by Sisodia forces and on behalf of Maharana of Mewar, Narbad (son of Rao Satta) was stationed there with a strong garrison at Mandore with orders to pursue and destroy Jodha. For the next 12 years, Narbad would relentlessly devise ways to draw out and capture Jodha.
Jodha's opportunity to strike finally came in 1453 with Rana Kumbha facing simultaneous attacks by the Sultans of Malwa and Gujarat. Jodha made a surprise attack on Mandore. Jodha's forces overwhelmed the defenders and captured Mandore with relative ease.

Jodha made a surprise attack on Mandore using horses seized from the Thakur of Setrawa and other jagirdars. Jodha's forces overwhelmed the defenders and captured Mandore with relative ease. Jodha then successively captured Chaukade, Sojat, Merta, Bahirunda and Kosana (Rishi Dadhichi's origin).
After recapturing Mandore, Rao joined his forces with Rana to bar their mutual enemies (Sultans of Malwa and Gujarat). After succeeding in that, the two rulers of Marwar and Mewar formed a truce.
In 1395, its capital was changed to Mandore by Rao Chunda of Mandore and to Jodhpur in 1459 by Rao Jodha. Marwar struggled and resisted against the Mughals under the rule of Rao Ganga and Maldeo Rathore who is known to be one of the greatest warriors of the time.
Aug 14, 2024 · After Rao Ranmal was killed, his son Rao Jodha tried to take back Mandore but couldn’t at first attempt. Later, in 1453, Rao Jodha finally managed to get Mandore back. Many rulers of Jodhpur worked on its construction over time.
