Mandakini was born in Meerut as Yasmeen Joseph to a British father and a Kashmiri mother. [citation needed] At the young age of 16, she was discovered by film director Raj Kapoor and given the screen name "Mandakini". Film career. Mandakini got her first movie in the Hindi film industry when she was cast in the lead role in the 1985 movie Ram Teri Ganga Maili by film producer-director Raj Kapoor opposite his youngest son Rajiv Kapoor.
In 1990, Mandakini, along with her secretary Ajit Dewan and actor Aditya Pancholi, started a film production house ‘A.M.A Productions’ (name derived from their initials). Later, after a tiff between the partners, Mandakini left the production house. In 1995, she received huge criticism for having a rumoured relationship with the Indian gangster Dawood Ibrahim. A photo of her with Dawood from a cricket stadium in Dubai went viral in media.
Mandakini is a 2024 Indian Malayalam-language film directed by Vinod Leela and produced by Sanju Unnithan under the banner Spire Productions. It stars Althaf Salim, Anarkali Marikar, and Ganapathi S. Poduval in the lead roles. The film released on 24 May 2024. This movie generally received positive reviews from the critics and was a commercial success at box office.
