Salil Parekh is the current chief executive officer and managing director of Infosys. Parekh took over from interim CEO U B Pravin Rao on 2 January 2018.
Murthy was the CEO of Infosys for 21 years from 1981 to 2002 and was succeeded by co-founder Nandan Nilekani. At Infosys he articulated, designed and implemented a global delivery model for IT services outsourcing from India. He was the chairman of the board from 2002 to 2006, after which he also became the chief mentor.

May 23, 2022 · Infosys stated on Sunday that Salil S. Parekh had been reappointed as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director (CEO & MD) of the company, commencing July 1, 2022, for a term of five years until March 31, 2027, subject to shareholder approval.
