Jean Nouvel ( French: [ʒɑ̃ nuvɛl]; born 12 August 1945) is a French architect. Nouvel studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and was a founding member of Mars 1976 and Syndicat de l'Architecture, France’s first labor union for architects.
Jean Nouvel, Pritzker Prize-winning French architect known for his experimental designs which defy general characterization. He first gained international attention in 1987, when the Institute of the Arab World opened in Paris.
Jean Nouvel was the recipient of the prestigious Pritzker Prize in 2008. In France, he has received many prizes including the Gold Medal from the French Academy of Architecture, two “Équerres d’Argent” and the National Grand Prize for Architecture.
