Bhisham Sahni (8 August 1915 – 11 July 2003) was an Indian writer, playwright in Hindi and an actor, most famous for his novel and television screenplay Tamas ("Darkness, Ignorance"), a powerful and passionate account of the Partition of India.
May 6, 2024 · Bhisham Sahni was a Hindi writer, actor, teacher, translator, and polyglot who was especially known for his poignant and realistic work Tamas (1974; Darkness), depicting the aftermath of the 1947 partition of India. In 1986 filmmaker Govind Nihalani adapted the work into a made-for-television.
