The student body consists of approximately 4,000 undergraduates and 900 graduate ( master's degree) students. The university has a combined faculty of more than 700 teachers.
Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) is one of the country’s leading institutions in the education of linguists, journalism, regional studies and international relations experts. Azerbaijan University of Languages was founded in 1937 as the School of Foreign Languages. It attained full university status in 2000. Since 2021 the Inclusive Education Centre has provided classes for autistic and disabled students along with training for specialists in these fields. Following Azerbaijan's independence in 1991, the institute embarked on a new era of growth and transformation. In 1996, it donned the title "Azerbaijan State Institute of Languages," and in 2000, its stature reached new heights as it ascended to university status, earning its present name – Azerbaijan University of Languages.
