  7. Among the oldest universities in Japan, Komazawa University was established in 1592 as Sendan-Rin School, a Buddhist seminary. It changed to its present name in 1925, and from 1949 onwards, the university opened faculties offering various academic programs in social sciences, business management, and economics.
