Mar 15, 2008 · Helter Skelter was the prototype for heavy metal throughout the 70s and 80s. As was Revolution which was recorded a week earlier. The guitar became the lead instrument rather than vocal harmonies. Paul taught heavy metal bands for years to come how to sing the heavy metal style of vocals. The Manson thing is somewhat interesting as a side note but the song is better and more important to the evolution of Rock and Roll rather than to give that punk Manson any Beatle press.
