Ali Ghodsi (born December 1978) is a Persian computer scientist and entrepreneur specializing in distributed systems and big data. He is a co-founder and CEO of Databricks and an adjunct professor at UC Berkeley. He coauthored several influential papers, including Apache Mesos and Apache Spark SQL.

Ali Ghodsi received his PhD in 2006 from KTH/Royal Institute of Technology in the area of Distributed Computing. His research interests include distributed systems, cloud computing, big data computing, and networking.
Distributed computing is challenging due to two fundamental problems: (i) partial-failures, and (ii) asynchrony. Partial failures means that parts of the system (network or machines) can be faulty, but it is desirable for the rest of the system to function correctly.
