Maha Singh ( Punjabi: Mahaṅ Singh; 1760 – 15 April 1790 [1] or 1756 – April 1792), [2] [3] also spelt as Mahan or Mahn Singh, was the second chief of the Sukerchakia Misl, which as a Sikh grouping with its guerilla militia was one of twelve Sikh Misls that later became part of the Sikh Empire.
Maha Singh or Mahan Singh was Maharaja Ranjit Singh's father and the commander of the Sukerchakia misl and controlled a territory in west Punjab based around his headquarters at Gujranwala. He was a Punjabi Sikh chief of an organisation (misl) which formed part of the Sikh Confederacy.

During the siege 40 Sikhs, led by Maha Singh, wrote letters of bedava (abandonment of a Sikh from his Guru) to Guru Gobind Singh ji. They arrived in the village of Jhabal where a Sikh woman named Mata Bhag Kaur , upon hearing their tale of desertion , motivated them into returning to Guru ji at Anandpur Sahib.

He is known for his alliance with Jassa Singh Ramgarhia and for reducing the power of the Kanheya Misl. As the new leader of the Sukerchakia Misl he captured the Rohtas Fort from Nur ud-Din Bamezai, a general of Ahmad Shah Durrani.
Maha Singh Sandhawalia (Jat Sikh Sardar) (Punjabi: ਮਹਾਂ ਸਿੰਘ) (alternatively Mahan Singh)(1756– April 1792) was the misaldar of the Sukerchakia Misl. Upon the death of his father, Charat Singh , he succeeded to the leadership of the Sukerchakia Misl.
