  1. Isaac Ridgeway Trimble (May 15, 1802 – January 2, 1888) was a United States Army officer, a civil engineer, a prominent railroad construction superintendent and executive, and a Confederate general in the American Civil War.

  2. One of the oldest generals in the Confederate Army, he was a friend of Stonewall Jackson. He led troops in burning bridges and in several battles including Second Manassas, or Bull Run, after which he was promoted to major general. Captured at Gettysburg, he was a prisoner at Johnson’s Island and paroled in 1865.
