Heizō Takenaka (竹中 平蔵, Takenaka Heizō, born 3 March 1951) is a Japanese economist, retired politician, and political activist last serving as Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications and Minister of State for Privatization of the Postal Services in the cabinet of Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi.
Professor Heizo Takenaka joined Prime Minister Koizumi’s government in 2001. During this time, he became Minister for Economic and Fiscal Policy, and then the Minister for Financial Services. He also became the Minister for Privatisation of the Postal Services and the Minister for both Internal Affairs and Communication.
