Rod Morgenstein (born April 19, 1953) is an American drummer with rock bands Winger and Dixie Dregs. He also played with Fiona, Platypus, the Steve Morse Band, and Jelly Jam. He has also done session work with Jordan Rudess including his ventures with the Rudess/Morgenstein Project. He also toured with Jazz Is Dead.

Rod Morgenstein is a professor in the Percussion Department at Berklee College of Music. He is a founding member of the groundbreaking progressive rock fusion group the Dixie Dregs, who have received six Grammy Award nominations.
His unique, dynamic and musical drumming style has led to Rod’s winning the Best Progressive Rock Drummer award in Modern Drummer Magazine’s Reader’s Poll 5 years in a row (1986-1990) and Best All-Around Drummer (1999), earning him a permanent position in the magazine’s prestigious Honor Roll.
The original lineup of instrumental masters the Dixie Dregs will be hitting the road in 2018. Rod Morgenstein, Andy West, Allen Sloan, Steve Davidowski and Steve Morse—the same Dregs lineup behind 1977’s Free Fall —have officially reunited, as they announced yesterday via a very brief press release.
