Possessed is an American death metal band, originally formed in 1983. Noted for their fast style of playing and Jeff Becerra's growled vocals , they are often called the first band in the death metal genre, [4] and paved the way for the 1980s Bay Area thrash metal scene, along with Metallica , Exodus , Testament and Death Angel .

Jul 23, 2020 · Possessed officially returned in 2007, a comeback sparked when Jeff was invited to perform guest vocal duties with LA death metal crew Sadistic Intent on a cover of Seven Churches’ classic opener, The Exorcist. Suitably impressed with the way the band performed his own classic material, Jeff decided to bring his band back to life with his new associates’ assistance.
