The 1998 surrealist psychological thriller stars Sean Gullette as a mathematician who becomes obsessed with searching for patterns in the universe as part of a quest for meaning. Twenty-five years later, Darren Aronofsky honored Pi 's 25th anniversary with an 8K restoration for IMAX re-release on March 14, 2023.
Synopsis. The film is about a mathematical genius, Maximilian Cohen (Sean Gullette), who narrates much of the movie. Max, an unemployed number theorist, theorizes that everything in nature can be understood through numbers, and that if you graph the numbers properly patterns will emerge.
