Clarissa is a 1991 British period drama television miniseries starring Sean Bean, Saskia Wickham and Lynsey Baxter. It aired on BBC2 in three episodes between 27 November and 11 December 1991.
Plot summary. Robert Lovelace, a wealthy "libertine" and heir to a substantial estate, begins to court Arabella, Clarissa's older sister. However, she rejects him because she feels slighted by his more ardent interest in her parents' approval than in her.
Clarissa becomes a nurse in a field hospital - and notices there that she is pregnant. To make her child legitimate she accepts a proposal of marriage from sham patient Gottfried Brancoric, who needs her as an excuse to avoid military service.
