About Sabha. Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha was founded by Mahathma Gandhiji in the year 1918 at Madras (now Chennai) for propogation of Hindi in the south. Since Hindi, in the Pre-Independance days was almost at the centre stage of the Freedom Movement, people in great numbers came forward willingly to learn Hindi.
He thought Hindi spoken by the biggest section of the people could be the link language. He founded Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha in Madras with the noble purpose of propagating Hindi in the southern states of the country in the year 1918.
