Joseph Walton Losey III ( / ˈloʊsi /; January 14, 1909 – June 22, 1984) was an American theatre and film director, producer, and screenwriter. Born in Wisconsin, he studied in Germany with Bertolt Brecht and then returned to the United States.
Joseph Losey (1909-1984) was an American-born British director, producer and writer who worked with Bertolt Brecht and made films in various genres. He was blacklisted by the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1951 and lived in exile in Europe until his death.
