Svetlana Aleksandrovna Lunkina (Russian: Светла́на Алекса́ндровна Лу́нькина; born 29 July 1979) is a Russian-Canadian ballerina who is a principal dancer with the National Ballet of Canada.
Svetlana Lunkina was born in Moscow, Russia and trained at the Moscow Choreographic Academy in Russia. Svetlana joined the Bolshoi Ballet in 1997 and was promoted to Principal Dancer in 2005. In 2013, she joined The National Ballet of Canada as a Principal Guest Artist and became a Principal Dancer with the company in 2014.
Nov 20, 2014 · Following her debut in Giselle, Lunkina’s career blossomed, and even before being promoted to principal in 2005 she had already danced leading roles in Swan Lake and The Sleeping Beauty. As Lunkina rose through the ranks, Maximova remained her coach, until her sudden death in 2009.
