The launch of this joint venture in March 1983 led to the development of the V2500 turbofan engine, of which more than 7,800 have been produced.
The IAE V2500 is a two-shaft turbofan engine specially designed for narrowbody aircraft. It is used to power a number of aircraft, including the Airbus A319, A320, and A321. A major advancement on this engine, the IAE V2500Select-One™, was introduced in September 2008.
