  2. Kenyon's sports teams, which compete in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC), were referred to as the Lords and Ladies until May 2022 when a new mascot, the Owls, was announced. At various points in the past, the teams were also known as the Mauve, the Purple, the Purple and White, the Hilltoppers, and simply as Kenyon.

  3. Let our conversations broaden the definition of Lords and Ladies to include more meaning, people and tradition. Let’s take what is already so special to Kenyon and expand upon it, not take away. I truly believe in Kenyon’s efforts to make our school a more conscientious campus, but a moniker change will not positively enhance the conversation.

  4. Did you know that for a time Kenyon teams were the Pioneers? And that before Ladies caught on in the 1970s, Lordettes was occasionally used? The history of monikers — names, not mascots — goes all the way back to the Mauve in the 1800s.
