Suffered A Serious Throat Injury
While AEW was taping an episode of Dynamite in October 2020, Abadon injured themself in a match against Tay Conti,which was then stopped abruptly. They had gotten hit to the throat with an elbow and couldn't breathe. After the match, Abadon was rushed to a nearby hospital. They made a full recovery after a few weeks. During their second match back from injury, Abadon unsuccessfully challenged Hikaru Shidafor the AEW Women's World Title.

Abadon wrestled their first AEW match in March 2020 against Hikaru Shida. Unsurprisingly, Shida won the match in just a few minutes. For the next few months, AEW didn't use Abadon at all.
