Karl Wendlinger ( German pronunciation: [kaɐ̯l ˈvɛnd.lɪŋ.ɐ]; born 20 December 1968) is an Austrian professional racing and former Formula One driver. Mercedes Juniors. Born in Kufstein, [1] Wendlinger started his career in karting and in Formula Ford before entering the German Formula 3 Championship in 1988.

May 27, 2021 · Wendlinger, a Sauber driver, hit the barriers at 177 km/h and suffered head injuries that put him in a coma for 19 days. He struggled to recover his speed and concentration after the accident and retired from F1 in 1995.
