This is primarily the story of George Morrell before he came to be Arsenal manager. He was the only manager who relegated Arsenal, was the manager who was in charge when Arsenal moved to Highbury, and there was only one Arsenal manager after him, before Herbert Chapman.
Poor George Morrell – doomed for ever to be known as the only manager ever to relegate Arsenal. He came in at a time when Arsenal changed managers as often as they changed their shirts – he was the fifth man in charge in ten years.

Elcoat, who hailed from Stockton-on-Tees, showed a strong preference for players north of the border as illustrated by him having eight Scotsman in his first team at one stage.
- Harry Bradshaw (189 games as manager) Harry Bradshaw took over the reigns from George Elcoat and in the space of five years, transformed the fortunes of the club.
