Anup was part of the India national kabaddi team that won Asiad gold medals in 2010 and 2014. He is the vice-captain of the Indian Kabaddi team. He is the captain of the U Mumba team in Pro Kabaddi League. Before representing India, he worked as a CRPF constable. He is an 2012 Arjuna award winner.
