Johnny Hines (1895-1970) was an American actor active primarily during the silent era, who did not transition well into talking pictures. During the course of his career he would appear in over 50 films, and numerous film shorts.
Johnny Hines was runner-up at the 1932 AAU Championships which qualified him for the US Olympic team. At the Olympics he won his first match but then lost in the quarter-finals to Sweden’s Allan Carlsson. Hines turned professional after the Olympics, fighting frequently from 1933-35, with all his bouts in California.
