Korokoro, a suburb of Lower Hutt City, lies in the south of the North Island of New Zealand. The suburb occupies part of the western hills of the Hutt Valley; its eastern slopes overlook Petone and the Wellington harbour.
CoroCoro Comic (コロコロコミック, KoroKoro Komikku) is a Japanese monthly manga magazine published by Shogakukan; established on May 15, 1977. Its main target is elementary school-aged boys. Several of its properties, like Doraemon and the Pokémon series of games, have gone on to be cultural phenomena in Japan.
So close to the city yet so quiet and back to nature. If you are in good shape, walk the bush track up the KoroKoro Valley (going down is easy). It takes about 20 minutes to climb from the small park at the bottom of the hill to the KoroKoro school, and has some very steep sections.
