    Christopher "Chris" J. Byrne is the director who directed four episodes of Star Trek: Discovery and an episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. He also served as second unit director on the Discovery pilot, "The Vulcan Hello".

    Byrne has worked on two other Bryan Fuller-created shows, Hannibal and American Gods. On Hannibal, he served as second unit director throughout 2014 and 2015. He served in the same capacity during the first season of American Gods; for the second season in 2019 he will serve as co-executive producer and supervising director under the new showrunners Jesse Alexander and Neil Gaiman.

    He has also worked as second unit director on 12 Monkeys (co-created by Terry Matalas) and his first directed episode of that series aired in June 2018.

    Using the name Bonspiel, Byrne has provided music for several television series, including Neat, Outlaw In-Laws, Kaya and the made-for-television movie Turn the Beat Around.
