Chasing Shadows is the Comsat Angels' sixth album, released in 1986 on Island Records. Having left Jive Records, the band had gotten a recording contract with Island, aided by Robert Palmer, who confessed on a TV show to be a fan of the Comsat Angels.
Palmer facilitated the Comsat Angels' signing to Island Records, and he served as executive producer for their next album, Chasing Shadows (1986) and even sang on one song, "You'll Never Know". That album's music is viewed as the band's return to their dark, brooding roots.

Nov 16, 2015 · These much-delayed reissues, via Edsel, finally hit the streets later this week, inviting a reappraisal of the Sheffield four-piece once championed by Robert Palmer. Named after the J. G. Ballard story of the same name, The Comsat Angels combined sparse instrumentation and a large sound in abstract, generally bleak, heartache-ridden pop songs.
