Peter Andreas Grünberg (German pronunciation: [ˈpeːtɐ ˈɡʁyːnbɛʁk] ⓘ; 18 May 1939 – 7 April 2018) was a German physicist, and Nobel Prize in Physics laureate for his discovery with Albert Fert of giant magnetoresistance which brought about a breakthrough in gigabyte hard disk drives.

Grünberg was born in 1939 as Peter Andreas Grinberg in Pilsen, Bohemia, now the Czech Republic, which at the time was under German occupation. His engineer father changed the family name in 1941. After the war the Germanspeaking majority of Pilsen was expelled and the Grünbergs settled in Lauterbach.
