Thiruvarutprakasa Vallalār Chidambaram Ramalingam (5 October 1823 – 30 January 1874), also known as Vallalār, Ramalinga Swamigal and Ramalinga Adigal, was one of the known Tamil saints and a notable Tamil poet of the 19th century. He belongs to a line of Tamil saints known as "gnana siddhars" ( gnana means 'higher wisdom ').

Swami Ramalingam, popularly known as Vallalar, was one of the most notable saints on the Indian sub-continent during the 19th century. He was born on October 5, 1823, in Marudur near Chidambaram into a Hindu Saivite family, the fifth child and last son of his father Ramayya Pillai and mother Chinnammayyar.
Mudigonda Siddaveera Rajalingam gave anti-government lectures and suffered as an under-trial prisoner from 15 th June 1947 to 22 nd March 1948, following which he was sentenced to six months in the Warangal Central Jail from 23 rd March 1948.
