Thompson Twins were a British pop band, formed in 1977 in Sheffield. Initially a new wave group, they switched to a more mainstream pop sound and achieved considerable popularity during the early and mid-1980s, scoring a string of hits in the United Kingdom, the United States, and around the world.
Apr 16, 2022 · We are detective! The Thompson Twins can trace their roots back to 1977 but it was only in the 1980’s that they made their name with three massive global hits in 1983-84. Taking their name from the two detectives in the cartoon adventures of Tinin (Thompson and Thompson, who were not twins!)
- Hold Me Now. At the top of this Thompson Twins songs list we have this song from Into The Gap which got to number four in the UK becoming their biggest selling single and their first in Britain to get into the top five.
- Lies. Just off the top spot, we have the Thompson Twins’ first single from Quick Step and Side Kick. Although it only got the number sixty-seven in the UK, it is yet another Thompson Twins single that did better in the US where it got to number thirty.
- Doctor! This is the second single taken from Into The Gap. It was very successful in the United Kingdom where it got the number three as well as eleven in the United States.
- King For A Day. This is the third single from the Thompson Twins’ fifth album Heres To Future Days released in 1985. There are two versions of the song, both of which have various remixes and different edits.
