Aug 18, 2014 · Ian Bowden, formerly art director at Rockstar and a Grand Theft Auto veteran, has left the company to join casual and social game studio GameDuell. Bowden originally founded Mobius Entertainment back in 1997, which then became Rockstar Leeds in 2005.
Rockstar Leeds was founded as Möbius Entertainment by Ian J. Bowden, Dave Box, Gordon Hall, and Jason McGann. McGann had previously worked for the Harrogate-based studio Enigma Variations when, in 1989, the programmer Mark Mason was fired. This led four employees, including McGann and Peter Tattersall, to leave the company in early 1990.
Ian Bowden is one of the most experienced artists in video game development, and his work is among the most influential. Bowden (self-portrait above) is formerly of Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar Games, where he was art director for almost 10 years, based out of Rockstar Leeds.
