TCEP ( tris (2-carboxyethyl)phosphine) is a reducing agent frequently used in biochemistry and molecular biology applications. It is often prepared and used as a hydrochloride salt (TCEP-HCl) with a molecular weight of 286.65 gram/mol.
TCEP is a very common reducing agent in protein analysis. All of the TCEP powder products reference protein applications. One product, 68957, is tested for use in protein electrophoresis, however none of the TCAP products are tested for suitability in enzyme assays.
Disufide crosslinks of cystines in proteins can be reduced to cysteine residues by TCEP (tris-(2-carboxyethyl)phosphine). Unlike DTT (dithiothreitol), TCEP does not contain thiols and therefore usually does not need to be removed prior to thiol modification.
Buy Tris (2-carboxyethyl) Phosphine Hydrochloride (TCEP) extrapure AR, 98% From Sisco India.
Overview. A water-soluble and odorless disulfide-reducing agent that is more stable and effective than DTT. TCEP reduces even the most stable water-soluble alkyl disulfides at pH 4.5 within 5 minutes. TCEP is also capable of functioning as a reducing agent even in the pH range of 1.5-8.5.
