Shankar Shanmugam (born 17 August 1963), credited as S. Shankar or his mononym Shankar, is an Indian film director, film producer and screenwriter who works predominantly in Tamil cinema. He is one of the highest grossing film directors in Indian cinema.
Shankar is the only director who has worked with most of the Tamil superstars including Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Vikram, and Vijay. His science fiction movie 2.0 is the most expensive Indian film to date with an estimated budget of ₹500 crore.
