    "Tough Titmouse"

    —Sybil Meeks' iconic saying

    History

"You got to move out. Soon as they find someone who'll take you. Okay, stop. Not everything is about you. Doctors say I'm dying, and there's nothing they can do about it." —Sybil Meeks to Shaun Murphy Sybil was Shaun Murphy's third foster mother. Her relationship with Shaun was distant. One day, Shaun didn't want to go to school because of his substitute teacher. Sybil recognized the name and claimed to have dated him in school. Sometime later, the doctors told her that she was dying, forcing her to give up Shaun. At first, Shaun was reluctant to leave her because she was one of the better foster parents. She didn't, however, take no for an answer. On the day which Shaun left, she retained her distant demeanor while telling Shaun that if he had forgotten something then she would just throw it out. Shaun tells her that he is scared and she tells him her iconic phrase, "tough titmouse." Shaun walks out of the door which brings a tear to her eye, suggesting that she loved him, or at least cared deeply for him because, despite her distant demeanor, she didn't want to give him up. Whether she is still alive or not is unknown after Shaun left.
