Pincus Jacob Wolfson was born in New York City on May 22, 1903, the son of Russian immigrant parents. Though his father was a plumber, Wolfson enrolled in Fordham University and studied to be a pharmacist. In 1926, he married Billie Marmon, and they had three children together.
