A master's graduate from the Pachaiyappa's College in Chennai, he first worked as a translator, while also being a published poet.

வைரமுத்து ( Vairamuthu, பிறப்பு: 13 சூலை 1953) ஒரு புகழ்பெற்ற தமிழ்த் திரைப்படப் பாடலாசிரியரும் கவிஞரும் ஆவார். சிறந்த பாடலாசிரியருக்கான இந்திய அரசின் விருதை ஏழு முறை பெற்றுள்ளார். நிழல்கள் (1980) எனும் திரைப்படத்தில் “பொன்மாலைப் பொழுது” எனும் பாடலை முதன்முதலில் எழுதிய இவர் 2009 சனவரி மாதம் வரை 5800 பாடல்களை எழுதியுள்ளார்.
