1 day ago · More recently, OL announced in December 2019 that it would buy an 89.5% stake in the U.S. National Women's Soccer League team known at the time as Reign FC. The purchase closed in January 2020 following approval of the NWSL board. Several weeks later, OL announced the rebranding of Reign FC as OL Reign.

Jun 17, 2024 · The Seattle Sounders and international investment firm Carlyle have finalized their deal to acquire the Seattle Reign of the National Women’s Soccer League. The OL Groupe, the holding company that owned eight-time French champion Lyon, announced in March it had agreed to sell the team to the Major League Soccer team and Carlyle for $58 million.
Jun 17, 2024 · Sounders owner Adrian Hanauer became a minority owner in the Reign upon the team's move to Tacoma, but exited when OL Groupe bought the team. Hanauer will now be part of the Reign's ownership group again and serve as governor on the NWSL board, with Popov as the alternate.
