Craigievar Castle is a pinkish harled castle or fortified country house 6 miles (9.7 km) south of Alford, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It was the seat of Clan Sempill, and the Forbes family resided here for 350 years until 1963, when the property was given to the National Trust for Scotland by William Forbes-Sempill, 19th Lord Sempill.

Built by the Mortimers of Craigievar between c 1575–95, Craigievar Castle in its original form would have looked a little different: rather than the iconic turrets, the uppermost level of the castle was likely much plainer and less soaring in height.

May 10, 2018 · A well-preserved and picturesque castle located among rolling hills, Craigievar Castle is a massive L-plan tower house of seven storeys, and was completed in 1626. Turrets, gables, chimney-stacks and corbelling crown the upper storeys; in contrast to the lower storeys, which are completely plain.
Craigievar Castle is 6 miles south of Alford, 15 miles north-west of Banchory and 26 miles west of Aberdeen. The entrance and main drive are signposted off the A980 (Alford to Banchory road). Please note that some route planning sites and sat-nav systems will provide directions to reach the castle via the south drive.
