Surdas (Sanskrit: सूरदास, romanized: Sūradāsa) was a 16th-century blind Hindu devotional poet and singer, who was known for his works written in praise of Krishna. [2] His compositions captured his devotion towards Krishna.

Surdas was an Indian 16th-century poet and singer who was blind and known for his poetic compositions in the praise of Lord Krishna. He was a hard-core disciple of Lord Krishna and used to write and sing poems in the love of his master. Surdas used to compose poems in the Braj, medieval Hindi or Awadhi languages.
Surdas saw the life journey of Lord Krishna through his blind eyes. Surdas went to Vrindavan along with Vallabhacharya, who taught him the Hindu religious aarti at Shrinath temple. The saint Vallabhacharya taught him to memorize the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita. Surdas was initiated by Vallabhacharya.
