Generally, Temple opens and darshan starts at around 5.30 A.M. After offering of the perpetual lamp (Mangal Arati), devotees are allowed entry up to Jagamohan (Bhitar Kaatha) of the temple and darshan from this point is available till completion of “Besha” (approximately upto 7.30 / 8 A.M.).

The temple of Jagannath Puri is a rekha deul with curvilinear tower on a pancha ratha plan and was built by Ananta Barma Chodaganga Dev during 12th century A.D. and was completed by Ananga Bhima Dev.
