hiding choppy framerate with subtle motion blur looks pretty-er than without if done tastefully. high fps also looks choppy to the human eye in motion. even if you have 200 fps, if you swing the mouse left and right quickly you will see how much smoother it feels with motion blur on. hiding choppiness and increasing the perception of smooth motion is part of graphical fidelity which needs to be balanced with the drawbacks of its implementation
